There was very little poverty in the USSR, most of it was extreme crapitali$t western propaganda.
Contrast that to 75% of detroit, NYC, miami, LA where they live in dirt poor conditions to this very day and have 0 chance to rise above the poverty line because of the pyramid scheme that is western crapitali$sm
A little lesson for you. You name cities Detroit, Miami, LA, and NYC where people live dirt poor. You do realize these cities and the counties they reside are some of the most leftist/socialist places in the USA right?we wont delve into the demographic causes that are the cancers that eat those citites away. The policies these places have adapted are about as close to the ol USSR you will get here. and the poverty line in the USA is much different than anywhere else on the planet. Most "poor" in the US have at least 1 car, cable, an xbox or ps3, cell phone, and several other things that actual poor people in other parts of the world could never dream of having.
That being said. i hope its a good fight, these are two of my favorite fighters. I dont care who wins I just want the fight to be good.
i wouldn't say he grew up "rough", but he certainly didn't grow up under the most ideal conditions. he was considered "middle class" - but middle class at the time where he lived simply meant a small apartment and food in your belly. he was born in Kazakhstan, i believe, but i think he basically grew up in russia - where he went to a sports/military type academy/school.
he MADE himself into an aristocrat - he was not born in an aristocracy type family - his dad was a military man - so yes, he was provided with the basic necessities.
Wladimir was born in Kazakhstan, Vitali was born in Uzbekistan.

Take your head out of the sand and stop watching Fox news. The poverty in America right now is the result of years of failed CRAPitali$t economic policy.

Eleven poorest states:
1. Mississippi
2. Arkansas
3. Kentucky
4. Washington DC
5. New Mexico
6. West ******ia
7. Alabama
8. Louisiana
9. Texas
10. South Carolina
11. Tennessee
