Watch an Ian Gardener fight, he likes to thorw a bolo punch to throw off his opponenets.

Kid Gavilan

I have watch my father (Gil Turner) and Gavilan title fight many times. Gavilan was my father idol and to watch both men threw bolo punches was exciting. Gavilan invented the bolo punch and was the best that ever threw the punch. When Gavilan fought my father he was very season fighter. fighting such fighters as pound for pound great Sugar Ray Robinson. My father and Gavilan is a great fight to watch

My father was stop in the 11th round. The fight was even on score cards. No those punches aren't illegal. You could hit the fighter in the belly button or on the chin if duck his head

When my father taught me the punch only old time fighters new about it and they new someone had to show me because younger fighters did not know what I was doing. Watch the title fight with my father and the first round the both threw it but my father got caught.

Well, kind hard to explain but I will explain it the best I can. You will probably never see it done by fighters of this era or future. The punch is very quick, I would not say it's a knock out punch and you have to be very careful when you threw it because you can leave yourself open. If your orthadox,the punch is thrown with your right hand, you can actually do it with both. You threw from your where your right hand is suppose to be position and come up similar to a upper cut but it's not one..You would have to see gavilan throw it
