Comments Thread For: A legal mood stabilizer: Adamek to beat Vitali Klitschko

By Lyle Fitzsimmons - Maybe it’s just a mood thing.

In the days of my youth, the week following Labor Day was never a favorite because it meant a return to school after an all-too-short summertime in Western New York.

And if readjusting to school bus and homework schedules weren’t enough, there was always the stark realization that bone-chilling temperatures and early-season snowfalls weren’t far away.

So even though I’ve moved more than 1,100 miles south and haven’t so much as grazed a snow shovel in a decade, I’m chalking up holiday grouchiness to subconscious hometown nostalgia.

And though he’s does nothing specific to warrant ire, when it comes to weekly boxing columns, Vitali Klitschko is the target of my admittedly illogical Tuesday venom.

Bottom line… I’m just sort of tired of the guy.

I concede that he’s been among the best – if not the very best – that the heavyweight division’s had to offer since he slung the WBO title belt over his shoulder by vanquishing Herbie Hide in 1999.

And given a sudden shoulder flameout against Chris Byrd a year later that could have been fatal given today’s “one-loss-and-he’s-finished” mentality, it’s surely respectable the mammoth Ukrainian has rebuilt both career and street cred with 15 wins in 16 fights since – all but three by KO.

But that doesn’t mean I have to like it.

In fact, while I’ve seen the bigger older brother of multi-belt champion Wladimir beat an assembly line of overblown wannabes like Samuel Peter and Chris Arreola, he’s never once sent me away from a bout thinking, “Holy cow, I just saw an unbeatable fighter.” [Click Here To Read More]

... HERE is what's happening.. what i took from yesterday's press conference...fact that he went to shake Klitschko's hand while Vitali was still simmering can only mean two things... he wanted to get on his cordial side again after he got shook by the almost satanical look in Vitali's glaze or that he wants to lull Vitali into a false sense of security... to let him think he's shook.. Look Solis.. didn't even bother looking at him.. alot of good that did him as he was a nervous ball of energy right before the bout.... me thinks you're screwed either way. Vitali.. it's all psychological with him.. he wants to show who the bigger & stronger guy is by how he looks at his opponents.. he won't stop looking at you until you turn away first.... this could be insecurity on his part but with him unlike other sluggers of the past...

the confidence is real & he wants to show you that it's not false bravado... go look at the way he was staring at Lewis before there fight..

Lewis was in a daze as Vitali was looking right through him showing no fear or at least hiding it... that alone goes to show you Vitali KNOWS he's the bigger man & it's YOU that has to fear him... not the other way around. For people who laugh when his name is mentioned as one of the most intimidating fighters in history... you're NOT the opponent looking up at a lean & mean 6 ft 8 inch Klitschko with the highest stoppage rate in heavyweight boxing history.....

this is NO Valuev people... this is a guy that CAN'T tsand the thought of someone remotely coming close to beating him.. he quit a fight for crying out loud because he didn't WANT to go out like that & wanted to continue another with his eyeskin all cut up.. the dude's a former kickboxing champion & I fell all you haters REALLY don't know how bad@ss Vk really is.. my opinion he's the most intimidating & certainly most dominant fighter of alltime.. if you don't believe me just look up his numbers.. they TELL the entire tale of the tape if you look carefully without a hint of bias or excuses on your behalf as to why he's the only one with those numbers.

Lol. at this writer's confidence... Adamek has no dfense.. get that through your skull.. he will be hit.. i don't care what dancing two steps he takes to throw off Vitali.... if you're going to survive or be a featherfister.. you'd better have defense like Kevin Johnson.. Chris Byrd or a James Toney.. saying you're going to war with VITALI when you're ONLY bringing a knife to a gunfight is laughable at best.. yes the guy has skills .. is tough.. & has heart but the fact he's got too much heart will get him destroyed... if this dude doesn't plan on being the RUNNING MAN & actually stays in the pocket.. look for a spectacular ending by Vitali Klitschko as he will tear right through him & let' STOP comparing Vitali with any other greats who lost to the smaller man like Holmes for instance against Spinks... wait till you see the weighin... the shape he's going to be in for a 40 yr old... physically & mentally prepared... he's going to want to tear this Goral's dude's head off.

Best Fitzsimmons Article Ever. He actually put some thought in this writing. Adamek is arguably one of Vitali's best opponents to date. Adamek has a legit shot of winning via decision, especially in his home country, against the slower, and older Champion.
