At 1st I could not stand the guy but after years of watching I can respect his opinion and commentary. He doesn't nut hug like Jim and say ****** **** like Foreman. He calls it like he sees it and THEN gets in the ring to ask a loser bascially how does it feel to get your ass whupped. I like him.

Who the hell is Larry Merchant to call fights boring? He called Judah vs. Corley boring! Ha! He calls any match that isn't all brawling boring. If anybody actually uses some defense, its like he throws off on them.
Merchant talks down to George Foreman a lot. If Foreman weren't such a...nevermind. Merchant also LOVES to give even rounds, which is annoying. Pay attention to the next few HBO fights. I guarantee, if the fights go any rounds he'll have a round even in at least 8 or the next 10 fights.

I like Larry Merchant for the simple fact that he tells it like he is. Only thing I have to knock him for is he's too "brutally honest" to losing fighters and it kind of gets on my nerves. Other then that I think he's great for boxing.
You could either have a slow-talker like Merchant, OR an energetic, hyper sometimes annoying Max Kellerman. I choose Merchant.Comment

Max Kellerman is a positive force in boxing. He promotes boxing. Merchant seems to do everything to insult it these days. Then he makes some ****head reference to Coney Island and how he used to eat hotdogs there, which is sort of like the fight we just saw, where two hotdogs fought each other, and the fans felt like they'd just been on a ride after eating hotdogs, sick. Larry Merchant is an idiot. He says ****** **** all the time and frankly the people that cant detect it are sad. Roy Jones has had to smack him back to reality a few times that he is just a spectator.
I always thought he said some pretty ****** things, I was sure he couldnt be a real boxing fan. And the night of Castillo vs Corrales It was pretty much confirmed. He was in Santa Monica at some cafe during fight time NOT watching the fight.Comment
