Adamek says Haye did not come to win

    by Lem Satterfield
    Sep 4th, 2011

Polish-born Tomasz Adamek was not impressed by the effort of Englishman David Haye against Wladimir Klitschko, whose one-sided unanimous decision added Haye's WBA heavyweight belt to his own IBF and WBO titles in July.

In victory, the 35-year-old Klitschko (56-3, 49 knockouts) earned his 14th straight win during a run that includes 10 knockouts, ending a 15-bout winning streak against Haye (25-2, 23 KOs) that had included 13 stoppages.

Their clash also concluded what had been a bitter feud of words that had been ongoing since June of 2009.

That's when Haye angered Klitschko and his older brother, 40-year-old WBC king Vitali Klitschko (42-2, 39 KOs), by showing up at a press conference in Germany wearing a T-shirt depicting a cartoon of himself standing in a ring while holding their decapitated heads with their lifeless bodies at his feet.

Given all of the talk leading up to Klitschko-Haye, the 34-year-old Adamek (43-1, 28 KOs) said that he was disappointed in Haye's relative inactivity in the fight.

"My opinion is that if someone speaks too much, then you give a good show," said Adamek. "But we did not see that with David Haye against Wladimir Klitschko. He spoke too much about fighting, and he did not [come to win.]"

Adamek said that he will not do the same against Vitali Klitschko when he challenges for the older brother's crown on Sept. 10 at Stadion Mejski in Wroclaw, Poland.

Adamek will be after his 14th consecutive victory and his seventh straight win as a heavyweight when he meets Klitschko, who is riding a 10-fight winning streak that includes eight stoppages.

The last man to defeat Adamek was Chad Dawson, who dethroned Adamek as WBC lightheavyweight beltholder by unanimous decision in February 2007.

"When I go into the ring, you know, I go in to win. It is my heart, which is strong. It's my speed too. I never go into the ring to lose. I want to win," said Adamek.

"I'm not going to go into the ring and go to the ropes because I want to fight, and I want the title. This is my dream."

I don't think Haye just showed up for the check. He just isn't very good, and probably believed that if he hit Wlad once that would win him the fight.

Haye seemed very afraid of being hit, especially after the punch the bloodied his nose in the 5th.

cool sigs ....Berto is a bum....I was wondering why the ref and HBO didn't call Berto out for that....and yea, Haye came to land one shot and when he saw that it was impossible to land THAT shot without stepping in the danger zone...he rode out the clock....classic Haye....dude is not as good as he and his supporters hyped him up to be.....and for the record, Adamek would KO Haye because I doubt Haye would run like a b!tch from Tomasz...being as though he doesn't has a rep as a heavy puncher at HW...plus their about the same size...so yea, I can see Haye getting KTFO by Adamek if they ever fought

Adamek will come to fight for maybe a round or two but that will be it. He will probably get battered the next 5 or 6 rounds or however long they allow him to fight infront of fans. Adamek should be down in the cruisers fighting USS Cunningham. Same goes for Eddie Chambers. Chambers, Adamek, Haye all are chasing the big payday but all 3 of them should be making the crusierweight division one of the better divisions out there.

David didnt come do get beat up and knocked out.

Haye tried to do his best and rely on his explosive looping rights to crack that "weak" chin, with one shot, that mafkn lucky punch. At the end of a day he has protected himself.

Only way to win such an world Heavyweight championship is to knock out the defending champion.
You cant win those fights on points, thats why I dont give Adamek any chance of an upset, cuz hes no natural heavy weight.

            Haye>Adamek at HW.

Adamek will survive until the 5th round approx. at Vitali's helm before he gets put away. Adamek fatigued in the later rounds VS Grant and ended up struggling as the fight went down the stretch. Easy work for Vitali come next week.

                adamek is barely 6'2
                haye is 6'3

adamek is not nearly as hard to hit as wlad, infact, adamek is not hard to hit at all, you gotta be mental to think adamek beats haye, but hey, people like to let fighters personalities get in the way of the analyzing of their in-ring skills/attributes

I think Haye came not to lose rather than to win. Perhaps he talked so much that he didn't want to risk being KO'd. It is disappointing if he ends his career in this way without having left it all in the ring.
