  • Comments Thread For: Alexander Povetkin's Options: Dimitrenko is a Possibility

Although there have been some reports in the media that on the 17th of December, in Switzerland, Alexander Povetkin (22-0, 15 KOs) will face Evander Holyfield (44-10-2, 29 KOs), the fight is not yet a foregone conclusion, according to Povetkin's manager Vladimir Hryunov. According to Hryunov, there are ongoing negotiations with several fighters - including European heavyweight champion Alexander Dimitrenko (31-1, 21 KOs).

    Make it happen.

Dimitrenko was knocked down twice and dominated by Chambers.

    Povetkin knocks him out.

This would be a perfect fight for Povetkin. He needs to fight tall opponents to prepare for a Klitschko. If he fights Holyfield, I will no longer support him.

Id love to see this fight - Dimitrenko is the right first step in preparing for the klitschko's. although nowhere close in terms of ability and power - still moving in the right direction. povetkin should be able to chop him down.

Dimitrenko is no great shakes as a fighter but he's a hell of a lot better than Holyfield at this stage. Makes sense as well if Povs really wants Wlad somewhere down the line.

Rematch with Chambers might be nice, but I doubt Povs wants anything to do with Eddie now.

why is it that every guy named as a possible next opponent for Povetkin gets the same response: '' WHO?" -- tempted to blame Atlas for overprotecting his guy but the truth is that with the exception of the K bros, there are no credible HWs out there for Povetkin to fight -- the HW division has been a standing joke for years now

I think Povetkin has declined since he started working with Teddy.

Dimitrenko isn't great, but I think he'd KO Povetkin.

Now this is a fight I like actually, hell I like this fight for Wlad let alone Povetkin.

Obviously is much better than the Holyfield fight.

i think povetkin beats dimitrenko but there could be some tense moments for povetkin.dimitrenko is a big man & after a big ko win vs sosnowski & an almost certain win vs michael sprott he should have good momentum coming into a possible fight with povetkin.bring on toney!!!!!
