I think Russell Jr will eventually get to that level, but I think it is extremely smart that his dad is bringing him along...SLOWLY! Fans and media people like Max Kellerman just want the dude to "RUSH INTO BIG FIGHTS"...he is YOUNG he has PLENTY OF TIME and the Big Fights will come eventually

but a Excellent Showing for his first full fight on HBO

Not worried about "Power" or him not getting KO's EVERY TIME HE FIGHTS, because even right now I think he can probably out-box most of the fighters in his division, plus while others are trying to land that one big Power Shot and trying to Knock Him Out, they will be EATING COMBOS...his opponents can have all the Power Advantage They Want...BUT they are going to have MAJOR PROBLEMS landing with it against Russell Jr.

You might as well start hating him now because the dude is going to be around for a long time with those Skills and even without Great Power he is going to beat many of those guys in his division...wouldn't be shocked if the ones rated higher then his is...AVOIDS HIM! Especially with him being with Golden Boy and most of his Competition is currently with Top Rank, Arum already making excuses to Avoid Russell!

Do not put him in with gamboa or garcia. He hasn't even fought 10 rounds. Superior skills but they need to see him respond in a tough fight or late in a fight. He has plenty of time.

If is mangmnt/promoter gets him more fights,they're wasting his great talent, only 1 this yr, though russell is a higher weight, I don't think he can handle Rigondeaux, period....

Yes, they probably will take that approach...and I don't blame them. I'm looking at it from the handlers' standpoint. Of course, as fans, we want to see things move a little more quickly; but a career is nothing to take lightly, especially a promising one. Why have your kid get spanked and lose confidence...maybe even get his brains scrambled before he's ready? No sense in derailing a career before it even really gets off the ground. I say: let Russell mature a little before presenting him with his first "test".

I think he does for 3 or 4 fights. In 18 months or 2 years, they trot out tougher competitipn. Maybe longer. He is after all an al haymon fighter.
