Gamboa was (very vaguely) stripped of a WBA title he didn't earn. Chris John is the rightful WBA champion...to be the man you have to beat the man....

Yuri was also stripped of his IBF strap because he failed to show for their second, "morning of" weigh-in.

John is the champion; he earned his title fair and square. I don't like it any more than you do, but certain rules and traditions must be honored so as to maintain order. What the WBA did with Gamboa (both giving and taking away "his" title) was lawless. Once an authoritative body starts doing what they want, when they want, no one is safe. You don't need any further proof than the fact that the WBA took back their title with no real explanation.
