Well I was writing about him yesterday and probably reminded you of him. Yes, I agree, I thought he was going all the way. But is seems that he was having a battle with another interest all the time. He was/is an accomplished Jazz trumpeter, and played in various groups, so, I suppose, when he was surprised by a huge Mendoza whom he'dever even seen before, broke his ankle, and after, by a very disinterested and scrappy fight with Ian Gardner, who was the most difficult fighter I've ever seen, he decided to call it quits. He was not the normal boxer type, being very well educated and softly spoken. Culture oozed out of him, and I suppose he just preferred music as a career.

But he was a damned good fighter with a lethal left hand.
