Dzemski: Zavec is in championship form

I've translated the article from the main slovenian newspaper Delo just for you guys, enjoy!

Dzemski: Zavec is in championship form

Dirk Dzemski, 4 years a trainer of Dejan Zavec, is extremely confident, just like his protege. He believes that in the night from saturday to sunday, Zavec is going to beat the american star Andre Berto, and defended his IBF WW World title for the 4th time. "Dejan has again trained extremely energetically, so he is in champion's form - in other words, unbeatable!", the 39-year old German Dzemski told for the Delo newspaper (main Slovenian newspaper), and added the 35-year old Zavec is mature enough even to win by a knockout.

He told Zavec is hard to fight against. "That goes for any boxer on the world level. Berto has never before faced an opponent like this. That's why I'm sure that Dejan is going to win, best would be to win by knockout, because then there would be no doubts about the winner. It's very hard to win abroad by a points victory, especially in the US," assessed Dzemski, and continued: "Yes, we have to win by a knockout. That's also completely possible, but it's not our main goal. A win like this cannot be planned in advance, the interruption comes by itself."

When asked, where he channels all the optimism from, he replied, that he's a natural optimist. "I have never been a pessimist. Particularly in boxing it's like that - when two equal boxers meet in the ring, everything is possible. Until the referee shows it's over, everyone has a chance. Even the boxer, who seems to be in a losing position. It's the unwritten rule, which is very true in this elegant art of fighting," exposed the Magdeburg's SES Boxing club's main trainer, for which he also boxed until 2006.

He respects Berto, who lost to another american Victor Ortiz in a real shocker on April 16th, owning the WBC title for almost 3 years beforehand. "Andre has a great right hand, which punches real hard. Maybe he even has the best right hand in the Welterweight at the moment. Dejan will have to be very cautious, and try to avoid it at any cost. That will be one of the keys to success," mentioned Dzemski, but he also saw some weaknesses on "The Beast" as is the nick name of the 27-year old american:

"Berto is not known to have great boxing stamina, to add to that he also has a relatively glass chin. This means that he is relatively easy to knock down after a successful and powerful hit. In the fight against Ortiz, he fell down twice, but he also kissed the canvas in some of the other fights. Zavec, on the other hand, is a more complete boxer," Dzemski compared the two boxers. He also commended Zavec's conditioning trainer Tomi Jagarinec, because he prepared Zavec very well.

"Mr. Simpaticus" has confirmed great form also in the sparrings with some excellent boxers, Rafal Jackiewicz, Selcuk Aydin and finally against Joel Julio. "He had full control in the ring, and he put a great beatdown on Rafal. Dejan could have knocked Rafal out in training, but as we say, he let him "live". That's another proof, how big a sportsman Zavec is. I have to admit I was very proud of him that day," entrusted an ex boxer with a respectable statistic of 27 wins (15KO), and only 2 losses.

And what does he think is going to decide the "Battle in Biloxi"? " If there won't be an injury that would affect the progress and ending of the match, the day form and greater willpower. Whoever is going to be hungrier for the win, is going to be celebrating. And that is going to be Dejan!" added Dzemski firmly, for whom the fight in Biloxi, MS is going to be a premier event as well. "I've never gotten that chance to be boxing, or lead a boxer in the mecca of boxing, the US. I am very happy to be part of this spectacle, and I'm looking forward to it."

Berto got his loss, the one he had coming to him so now I relieve him of his ration of hate from me. He had better be mentally strong or he will be on that downward slide quicker than he thinks......like tomorrow night quick.
