I think the reason Cottos team wanted a catch weight nad 160lbs cap is becuase when Margs fought Pac at 150lbs catchweight,fight night he was at 165lbs,with out the catch weight or cap Margarito might come into the fight at close to 170lbs.This why I think they need to go back to fight day weigh ins. We need to stop guys boiling to get down to weight classes for the weigh in and then come into the fight 12-17 pounds heavier on fight night.Basically you end up having a guy at 160-170 fighting for a 154lbs title. Hel,l Haglar never weigh more than 60 on fight night,most fights he was around 158lbs and he was a middle weight.of course those were the days most fighters fought in thier true weight classes.

I agree with your reasoning, and I frimly believe that is the reasoning behind Team Cotto's decision to ask for a catch weight. Today we have guys piling up wins against smaller guys because of today's weighin standards. Your Hagler comparison hits the nail on the head.
