Comments Thread For: Robert Helenius: "The Klitschkos Are Not Unbeatable!"

Up and coming heavyweight Robert Helenius (16-0, 11KOs) is being viewed as the biggest rising threat to the heavyweight brothers, champions Wladimir and Vitali Klitschko. The 6'6 Helenius has now stopped three former heavyweight champions, with knockout victories over Lamon Brewster, Samuel Peter and most recently Sergei Liakhovich. Helenius would like to get a shot at the world championship in 2012 and the 27-year-old heavyweight is not intimidated by the far more experienced brothers.

I'm excited with this guy,if he improves his defense and counter punching ability,i think he has a good chance to become world champion.Helenius would ko ARREOLA,EDDIE CHAMBERS,Adamek or Povetkin easily. He did so much without a pro trainer, give him Freddie Roach,George Benton or Don Turner.

I think you are going overboard a little bit. All 3 of the guys Helenius decimated are damaged goods. While they are solid wins, don't forget that those guys had already been either bludgeoned by one another or by the Klitschko's not too long before facing Robert Helenius.

I agree. Of all those guys, I think a prime Liakhovich was the best, but he has never quite been the same since that Brewster fight and had been very inactive. Brewster was just destroyed by Wlad. It was just a disgusting display. And, Peter's destruction by Vitale was also pathetic. Neither of Helenius' victories over Brewster or Peter was anywhere near as as dominating as the ones by Wlad and Vitale, respectively. Helenius still needs some seasoning and defensive work before he's ready to fight a Klitschko.

Helenius only fights washed up opponents. Let's see him fight a live body. He looks good but who doesn't against these retreads?

I liked to see him face the winner of the Tony Thompson-Eddie Chambers fight.

How would Helenius land his punches on fighters who have good defense like the Klitschkos? The guy barely wins as it is now, if he didn't have power he'd have two losses right now. Boxing is more than about being able to punch really hard.

And for a man who supposedly has alot of big time boxing amatuer background I have to say, Helenius technical skills do not impress me. His competition so far does tho, but thats about it.
