What Year Did You Get Into Boxing?

1990, age 7.

My step dad was a huge fan and we watched Raging Bull, with Robert De Niro and I was hooked. He was my favorite fighter and I had never seen him fight.

1994 at age 10. I saw a documentary with Mike Tyson talking about old HW champions with a British man(Who I can't recall right now). They also showed some of his career highlights.

I was hooked.

The short answer is since Tyson was fighting in the late 80s. I could write a dissertation on this question though.

Come to think of it, I vaguely recall watching videos I rented from Blockbuster at about 8 years old. They were about Mike Tyson, and the Thrilla in Manilla.

well if you mean following boxing, around 1975 when I was about 9 i guess,my dad was an ex golden glover and watched boxing boxing all the time ,so we watched together.but when i really got into it was at 13 when i started to box some myself,then i really started to follow certain fighters.

Been 'curious' for as long as I can remember, first really got into it in 2008 aged 16. Joe Calzaghe I suppose, and the Hatton-Mayweather fight.

First big fight I remember seeing was Tyson/Spinks. Read every Ring mag I could get my hands on after that. And they were always like 2 months behind on current events. Had to actually watch the fight, get a copy or SOL. We didn't have Youtube, like some Youtube historians here (Jrosales). Didn't start fighting though until 2002.
