Hagler's performance was quite good. At this point of his career he was slowing down a bit. Mugabe was very hot going into this contest a formidable puncher and he fancied his chances. Hagler broke him down and the end seemed to come after Mugabe through an unbelievable upper cut that landed that would have practically finished off any other fighter. Hagler just shook his head and carried on and Mugabe seemed to give up. Hagler finished Mugabe. Mickey Duff matched him against soft level opposition and then went for the money with a mega fight against Hagler. -
This was a tough and underrated fight, Mugabi had a tough reputation based on his KO run at 154 at the time, I think they thought they would be catching Hagler at a bad time or something, But Hagler ruined him that night.Comment
