Helenius said Liakhovich was his toughest opponent to date and that it was difficult to contain him at the end of his jab. He had been training in-fighting and wanted to see whether he could break down Liakhovich at close range fighting. He says he enjoys trading punches with opponents, because in those situations he feels he has the advantage.

Liakhovich had his nose broken in the second round while Helenius's right hand was hurt slightly. Helenius says he will be ready for a world title match in a year or two. Up next they will be improving on his athleticism says his trainer Ulli Wagner.

That left uppercut was a vicious, unique punch similar to the one that Gerry Cooney used to throw in his day.

Yeah definetely Helenius toughest fight so far. Liakhovitch came to win, which made it the most exiting HW fight in several years.

The Cooney comparison is legit as far as the finish, but Helenius left hook is not quite as good, but he does have a right hand which is something Cooney lacked.

I'm sure there will be pressure on Helenius to challenge a klit real soon as he has made highlight-reel KO's of two tough opponents now. IMO Sauerland needs to take it easy and give the guy a chance to learn his trade in the gym and in fights for some time still. 16 or so fights is not a lot.

I hope Sauerland doesn't rush it.

I don't think they're planning to, unless the Klitschko brothers put a lot of money on the table. Helenius freely admits that he is not quite ready at the moment.

          Good.

How's the finnish press taking this win? Are they going overboard or are they having a somewhat realistic approach?

And can you tell me if the finns consider him one of their own or do they see him as some kind of swedish defector?

Brutal. Povetkin seems like the logical next opponent now, doesn't he? Or does Teddy still think it's too soon...?

This guy is getting overrated big time. I'm not impressed and his opponent was really holding his own. Don't even think his punching power is all that either. I've yet to see this guy in a fight and say "wow, this guy is the future".

I'd like to see a bit more definition to his body and see him a little more inshape before I get too excited, but he is about getting folks out of there, so that is exciting

You just say that cuz he looks like Stephen, the mad irishman from Braveheart.

If he was black you'd be all up in his grille.
