Peter Quillin is correct, there should be a MW tournament. It's the perfect time!

I agree. Showtime would be smart to do this. I think I vaguely remember hearing them talk about Cruiserweight and/or 122 pounds. But I don't think either are a good idea because I just don't see a lot of interest there. Cruiserweight would be probably technically the best but for US fans I don't think they would care too much.

actually that's true, i forgot about the BW tourney and GBP fighters partaking. . . You right - there would be nothing to lose (from a promotor perspective) because they are not superstars yet, and the benefit of possibly turning them into a superstar through the tournament would be more than enough to give the green light.

Right and I think of Dmitry Pirog & Gennady Golovkin. This would be their perfect chance to shine. Pirog as we all know scored that awesome KO over Jacob's, then disappeared to Russia, never getting another HBO/Showtime shot. He's in his prime and he needs to move fast before he gets older. They keep complaining they can't get US fights.

Gennady Golovkin is another guy lots of people are high on, but no one's seen him. He's fought pretty weak opponents in Europe, Panama, Kazakhstan...never the US. If he ever wants to be a star he needs to do something soon. Perfect chance for both of them.

Good idea but i doubt Martinez would sign up for it because he probably wouldnt want to tie himself up just in case on of the big fights is made abailable to him. Maybe they could have a tourny anyway with the winner as a good opponent for Sergio.

Right, we know Martinez wouldn't be in it. The idea would be to create some buzz in the division, create some attention and a credible opponent for Martinez. Winner fights Martinez.

Likely we wouldn't have any champions. Martinez, Sturm and Chavez likely wouldn't do anything like this.

James Kirkland should be no way near 160lb's, he should be fighting at 154lb's.

So, how do you create interest in a division with only one star? A tournament, duh.

Now is the perfect time. There is a lot of talent at MW all over the globe, the problem is, most people never seen a lot of these guys or barely at all.

Look at some of these names:

                      Peter Quillin
                      Matthew Macklin
                      Dmitry Pirog
                      Gennady Golovkin
                      Hassan N'Dam N'Jikam
James Kirkland (unless he's stuck on fighting at 154)
                      Marco Antonio Rubio
                      Daniel Geale
                      Andy Lee/Brian Vera winner
                      David Lemieux
                      Danny Jacobs
                      Fernando Guerrero
                      Nobuhiro Ishida

*You can cross out Felix Sturm and Chavez jr. from the list because you know damn well that wouldn't happen.

A super six like tournament would be absolutely PERFECT for the MW division right now, especially since the Super Six is coming to an end. This would create interest in the division, create stars as well as create credible opponents for Martinez.

Who would you like to see in it? How many fighters? 4? 6? 8? 10? Single elimination? Round robin? Who would you like to have in it? Speak on it!
I like this idea and IMO every division should have Super Six style tournaments.
