    Should LHW / CW be merged into one weight? + Revamp Weight Classes

    There is too many dead weight classes in boxing, you have all the midget classes that are separated by a few LB's when they shouldn't be.

    Then you have the Light Heavyweight's and the Cruiserweight division. Two of the deadest divisions in Boxing. Any decent CW moves up to Heavyweight regardless.

    I propose moving LHW to 180 or 185 and removing CW entirely, either cut down to 185 or move up to HW.

    All those Flyweight midget weight's need to be merged into one, its getting silly when there's 10 weight divisions separating 30lb's. Either bulk up or cut down.

    Right now its:

    Minimumweight : 105
    Light flyweight: 108
    Flyweight: 112
    ---

    Do we REALLY need 3 divisions being separated by 7 lb?.

    Super flyweight 115
    Bantamweight 118
    Super bantamweight 122

    Again 7lb for 3 divisions

    Featherweight 126
    Super featherweight 130
    Lightweight 135

    We are finally seeing a little difference between 3 weight classes where its a 9 lb difference, still one or two weight classes more than we need.

    Light welterweight 140
    Welterweight 147
    Light middleweight 154

    14lb difference, finally a semi decent gap

    Middleweight 160
    Super middleweight 168
    Light heavyweight 175

    Still only 15lb difference

    CW 200-
    HW 200+
    -------------------

    I highly doubt those midgets couldnt gain 3-4 lb's over the course of their training camp or lose the weight to make a different weight class.

    Having all these weight classes makes for LESS exciting fights as people just focus on a dead weight class and chill there all their life.

    This is what I purpose for weight classes.

    Flyweight: 112
    Bantamweight 118
    Featherweight 125
    Lightweight 134
    welterweight 143
    Light middleweight 155
    Middleweight 168
    Light heavyweight 185
    HW 200+

    Someone like this, anyone else agree with me? It would create alot more excitement in Boxing.

    Of course it will never happen because the Alphabet-Commissions like to create 100000 weight classes so they can get their title fee's.

    i reckon we should just have one boxing division and have only one belt, that way we can easily work out who is the best fighter on the planet. Thusly putting an end to the speculation of who is the best fighter p4p.

      Good idea but you created too much gap between some of the weights.

      I say do this :

      Minimum weight= 110 pounds
      Flyweight= 115 pounds
      Bantamweight= 120 pounds
      Super Bantamweight= 125 pounds
      Featherweight= 130 pounds
      Super Featherweight= 135 pounds
      Lightweight= 140 pounds
      Light Welter= 147 pounds
      Welterweight= 155 pounds
      Light Middleweight= 160 pounds
      Middleweight= 168 pounds
      Super Middle= 175 pounds
      Light Heavy= 185 pounds
      Heavyweight= 200 plus

      Their Gives ppl a chance to stack up world titles buh with a risk and no catchweight fights.

        OR maybe boxing should have more weight classes, that way it can attract those casual boxing fans back to the sport because "so and so" is a 15 or 20 division world champion.

          first of all, you have to keep in mind boxing has a long history, you can't just reestablish all of the weight divisions, it's silly

          I agree there are too many divisions, but you don't make that much sense

          you say the gap is too small in the lower weight classes

          the biggest gap is actually between LHW and CW, and you say let's erase the CW division ??? that's not a good idea, particularly in our modern times, these guys are just getting bigger and bigger, some people even suggest there should be a super heavyweight division, so where would the men walking around at 210-220 lbs, our current cruisers, fight ? they would be too big for LHW, and too small for the HWs

          if something should be erased, and that is just a fantasy still because it's very difficult to erase things supported by institutions and generating money, it should be some of the junior classes

          but again, it's all fantasy, won't happen

            No they should cut out super middle and light middle because it's 6 and 7 pounds separating them from the weight right above em so why not I mean people that rehydrate from 154 normally end up around 160 sum and super middle weights end up around 175 basically not exactly but you gotta see my point.

              Getting rid of cruiserweight would be absolute madness when the heavyweight division is being dominated by 240lb+ giants.

                185+ Heavyweight? It would be a massacre for a 190 to face a 245 pound guy such as Wladimir.
