      They usually get exposed pretty early in their career, of course there are a few exceptions.

      Best to leave with some kind of dignity.

          I dont see anything wrong with it, most of us would retire early if we could afford to.

            High profile British boxers are well-paid national stars and don't tend to blow their money. Against that background it makes less and less sense to keep on fighting.
