    People insisted on Gatti/Mayweather...

Even said that Floyd is ducking if he didn't fight Gatti for the WBC title...the second they stepped in the ring all of a sudden Floyd handpicked an easy opponent ducking Vivian who already had a fight (then was knocked out), ducking Kostya who already had a major scheduled showdown that month (and quit), Hatton who was the other half of Kostya's big showdown that month, and an inexperienced Cotto who had just had his BIG BIG ultimate revenge showdown with Abdullaev...that month.

It wasn't like Hatton, Kostya, Cotto, and Vivian (who?) were all lined up at Floyd front door saying they have an opening for him in July...Gatti was the fighter people talked of Floyd fighting...he was the guy people were saying "OH MY! I HOPE this fight comes off! Floyd would have a HARD time with Gatti's power and pressure! I don't even think Floyd can even hurt Gatti! Floyd will DEFINITELY taste the canvas in THIS fight! Maybe even get knocked out! Gatti is a NATURAL jr.welterweight while Mayweather who had trouble with a bigger Castillo is really a jr lightweight!"

I am not excusing Mitchell over the likes of Witter or Margarito. But a common trend is for fans to build up an opponent, then once that opponents get thrashed, the fans shoot them down like crazy. I have a feeling that would happen if Floyd were to beat a Witter or Margarito impressively.

People didn't insist on Gatti vs Mayweather... A lot of people were saying "What a bull**** missmatch" before it happened... And a lot of people said "What a bull**** missmatch" after it happened.

If my memory serves me correctly, Gatti WAS hand picked... In fact Floyd fought Henry Bruseles only because he was waiting for Gatti's schedule to free up.

No people werent really talkin of the fight possibility intil floyd kept shoutin gattis name, remember floyd kept callin gatti out sayin arturo was duckin him, And then once the fight was being made people talked about Gattis chances and what not, Gatti didnt call floyd out, floyd called gatti out, which is handpickin an easy opponet, u didnt see him on friday night fights callin out Kosta, Hatton, Harris, or anyone else for that matter, and he was suppose to fight witter instead of Bruseles if im not mistaken, So that is handpickin an easy opponet, Floyd new he could beat Gatti and forced gatti to fight him by callin him out numerous occasions, He could have easily called Kosta out and tried to make that happen, and his excuse for not fightin vivian in his own words was "Vivian Who" Duck in my opinion...so yes he did handpick gatti, just because gatti fans dreamed that gatti had a chance has nothin to do wit how the fight was made, Floyd picked and easy batterd opponet who he knew he could beat...Gatti didnt call him out, but he didnt back down neither...Floyd needs to fight somebody and stop callin out cats that have been dominated in previous fights...

Gatti wanted to fight Floyd and I'm sure Mayweather wanted to fight Gatti. For Gatti, it was a chance to defeat the best in the business. For Mayweather, it was exposure to a bigger audience than he'd ever seen.

Really, I think most people were predicting a Mayweather landslide victory. There was a lot of people saying things like, "I hope Gatti can win," meaning they know he had little to no chance, but they'd like to see him win it. I really can't think of too many people that actually thought Mayweather didn't stand a chance.

In general, people give boxers too hard a time when they lose.

the reality is, Gatti didnt want this fight...He really didnt...He felt obligated to take it cause of the fans and floyd sayin he was duckin him, and he didnt back down, Floyd started it, and Gatti didnt want it but was forced to take it by floyds mouth thats how it happend...but i give it to gatti he didnt backdown...
