Hopkins vs. Dawson is a PPV? Why?

I don't know why this would be a PPV. I know Hopkins is an all time great, and Dawson is probably the #1 challenger in the division, but PPV doesn't make sense with this one.

I'm a huge Dawson supporter (I'm from Connecticut), but his popularity has never been good. I'm not sensing that this will be a greatly entertaining fight, and the undercard is not that great either.

I'm very dissappointed that this will be on PPV, as not only do I not want to pay, but I don't think it's worth PPV either.

Thoughts?

hbo ran out of dates (budget). there were tons of articles about it. they're trying to stack up a solid undercard to make it worthy, not sure if it's complete though

no, it'll still be an hbo telecast, it just had something to do with dates and budgets that they decided to make it a ppv, from what i remember reading.

it will be on hbo ppv. They didn't run out of dates, just blew their entire budget overpaying for fights, in particular Bradley/Alexander and their guaranteed 1 million return dates in exchange for taking the fight against each other.

In short, they screw up, we pay for it.

Kinda like the banks.

It's a shame because it's a pretty interesting fight and one that has been anticipated for a few years now.

Believe it or NOT! it's on PPV. Another stellar PPV name from GBP, they can't show it on regular HBO now since they paid Ripley's rights to their slogan.
