Mayweather-Mitchell set for Nov. 19 on HBO

PORTLAND, Ore. -- WBC super lightweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. will face Sharmba Mitchell on Nov. 19 in Portland, the Oregon Sports Authority said Thursday.

The 12-round bout at the Rose Garden Arena will be televised on HBO.

Organizers had scheduled a press conference featuring both fighters Wednesday, but it was canceled and expected to take place some time next week.

The 28-year-old Mayweather, undefeated in 34 fights, took the WBC 140-pound title from Arturo Gatti in June, and previously held the WBC super featherweight and lightweight belts.

Mitchell, a former 140-pound champion, last fought in June on the undercard of the bout between Mike Tyson and Kevin McBride. The 35-year-old Mitchell was declared the victor over Chris Smith in five rounds.

IF He goes for Judah after this bout then I have no problem with him doing this. It's on free cable TV so I'm sure everyone else is going to watch it.

You haven't followed boxing for a while I see. Mitchell's still good he's a fast, slick fundamental southpaw. He's not a hall of famer by any means but he's still a very good fighter.

Like I said, if this fight is just a tune-up for 147 and a megafight with Judah then I'm all for it. If not, he's taking the easy way out and just making easy money the Roy Jones way.

You can't just move up to 147 without even ONE tuneup fight.

Mayweather is trying to get some more exposure at 147 and build up the demand for Judah. Judah will get his ass beat.

Thats the problem. After kicking Gatti's ass, nobody wants to fight him.
