Not so. Ali would have been required to do some roadwork as part of his various amateur programs. When Ali turned pro and went to Archie Moore's training camp he would have been required to do roadwork with Archie's stable of fighters. In his first fight against Henry Cooper in England he was photographed doing roadwork. He talked about doing roadwork through Louisville in his bio as an amateur.
