  • Comments Thread For: Odlanier Solis Says He's Clueless About Return Date

According to heavyweight contender Odlanier Solis (17-1, 12 KOs), he doesn't know anything about a planned return for the 14th of October in Berlin. The Cuban's return was announced by his promoter, Ahmet Oener, with the opponent being Varol Vekiloglu (18-2-1, 10 KOs).

As bizarre as this is, it makes perfect sense. Everyone was questioning how Odlanier could be ready for a fight so soon after a serious ACL injury. Now we have the answer: he wasn't. Oner's a slime-ball, but what the hell is up with the announcement of an October 14 return for Solis? They even announced an opponent! SMH

ACL rehab usually takes a year, first surgery, then waiting for the wound to heal completely, after that, walk carefully, only short walks, after some time longer walks and after that starting the rehab with specialists, and after some more months try to run , but not too fast..after maybe a couple of more months you may be able to train soft in the boxing club before you step it up. so 1 year and then I'm pushing it, usually around a year and 3-4 months..no way he's ready to fight after 7 months having the surgery,,nope

His career might be effectively over. Unless your name is Floyd Mayweather, Jr., it's very difficult to pick up your boxing career right where you left off after such a long layoff. I hate to say it, but it would serve Solis right. He never took his pro career as seriously as he should've. On the other hand, maybe this'll serve as a "wake up call."

The headline should have been shorter:

          Odlanier Solis is Clueless

          would have been fine.

It seems Oner scheduled Solis but didn't tell him about it.

His weight is likely to be an even bigger issue if he's been unable to exercise for the best part of a year when he starts camp for his next fight, whenever it may be.

He's going to have to diet and eat salads over pizza and hamburgers or whatever fatty foods he may have been eating before. Fish and can chicken are low in fat, he can eat that in his diet. So it helps lower his fat intake while keeping his muscles stronger with the protein.

Oner's a good promoter, he's getting his fighter back into the ring, with or without, his fighter's approval...
