I'll add my name to the list of people choosing James Toney - what a fantastic boxer.

juan manuel marquez...at 126 lbs marquez just look awesome in that textbook stance of his. from the textbook combos thrown with precision and his entire body put into motion when doing so, to the way he would zip and out of his opponents punching range. i also thought it was really cool the way he'd hold his hands up (like ricardo lopez) and the way he'd keep that lead hand always kinda pumping in and out (iunno, just looked awesome hahah). when he was at a lighter weight, he always had a cool looking pop to his step as well, almost video game-ish the way he would keep it up throughout the duration of the bout.

bernard hopkins...such a versatile stance, a true throwback to an older generation of boxing stylists with that chin tucked behind the shoulder and the head at a slight off angle. bhops stance is utilized in both offense and defense and he was able to jump from one to the other instantaneously. toney posses the same base stance as well, but it was more based off the back foot and was most effective at close range. on the other hand, bernard's less flat-footed variation was implemented from any range, and it allowed him to counter his opponent in the middle of the ring and instantly be swarming him in the corner.

ike quartey...watching this guy just makes me think of those old school battering rams from the middle ages. that tight guard, grounded base, with a ramrod jab coming from behind it. even after moving up in weight against bigger junior middleweights he was never really muscled around the ring.

I really like the Cris Arreola stance :O

On the real though I really like the Yuriorkis Gamboa stance. I like how he holds hos hands kinda low but keeps you guessing when and where he is going to throw especially because how he is so fast

Of active fighters I'd have to say the following:

JMM - amazing combination punching, so fluid, so inventive, excellent distancing, counterpunching. Sometimes looks a bit odd with his arms out like a chicken, especially when he throws a right hand, but his combinations are just poetry in motion. Pablo Neruda poetry.

Sergio M - incredible precision and timing, wonderfully fluid and natural looking body movement. And when he drops his hands and invites opponents to hit him that's just badass.

Froch - yeah, it's ugly, it's slow and crude looking, but it's so different and effective at the same time. And due to its flaws it always makes for great fights.

Pac - obvious choice. Love the leaping in out movement and the wickedly fast combos. Looks a bit messy at times, especially when he misses with a punch and leaves himself off balance, but there isn't another active fighter that can get me so pumped when I watch one of his fights.

Calderon - (is this guy still active?) really pure technique based boxing, laser-like precision and counterpunching, picture perfect foot movement.

PBF - same reason as Calderon.

Pirog - only seen a few of this guy's fights but his style is so distinctive and cool looking with the switch feet and gangly punches from every angle.

Vic Darchinyan - fights like a mini version of Froch crossed with a crabby old man. Really odd style, and love the way he loads up on every punch like it could be his last.

Cotto - don't really know why I like this guy's style. It looks solid and basic and allows him to throw thumping punches. Just a great meat and potatoes style, and I dig that.

Jermaine Taylor. He got it from playing street fighter.

I like FMJ sideways stance with his shoulder first and chin tucked. Almost impossible to hit. Plus his right hand is ****ed and in position to strike.

The style and stance i enjoyed watching most was a prime Toney. At his best he was able to do what guys like Mayweather and B-Hop were able to do, except he did it in a more relaxed and natural way IMHO.

If he had stayed in the shape he was in when he fought Holyfield he could have been a big name at hw longer then he was.
