My thoughs on Marinez

the only thing i dissagree with people on is that if he beats fmj or pace he becomes no1 pfp

i think u have to beat bigger people to do that....

some say that his natural weight is 154 or whatever or he staterted at 147 but

pac and may are really a blown up feather weight and a blown up lightweight.....

i do think he is in the top 5 pfp....

but if he wants to be no1 he has to beat some 168ers....

i like him though and i hope he fights some of those guys at 154 (cotto margarito)

cause that would build up his name and then he could move up and really establish were he stands.

I think if he is able to outbox mayweather in dominating fashion, then he should be p4p number 1.

He's already demonstrated his ability to climb in weight to outpoint the then dominate champion at middleweight.

and

He has demonstrated his real p4p power by KD and then KO fighters at his weight who have never been KD or KO, with height and reach advantages over Martinez.

If he is able to outbox the clearly best p4p 'boxer' in the world, then I believe he should be bumped up.

A close match vs Mayweather in route to a Split Decision win in either direction should favour Mayweather in the p4p rankings as Martinez is the bigger man. But if Mayweather is clearly out-boxed by Martinez, then it should solidify his p4p #1 claim.

i think even if he out boxes him his advantege in hight and reach doesnt really mean tht he is better than a blown up jr lw IMO

he can't become number 1 p4p by fighting the crop of fighters currently at 154 or 160.
But i don't expect him to move up AGAIN (because lets be fair here, he gave up significant size moving up to fight the lineal middleweight champ of the world, kelly pavlik). If he does, cool.
But i honestly think It's about as fair as demanding pac or floyd to move to 154 to fight him.
Hell maybe even less fair, seeing as floyd and manny both have been titlists at 154.
