    How to get to Olympics.....

There are eight boxers in each weight class that qualify for the final try out. The National tournaments for the Golden Gloves, ABF, PAL, U.S. Armed Forces as well as the Eastern and Western Trials have champions -and runners up in some cases- that make it. The final 8 box off against each other and the winner is the Trials champion. That guy then has to defeat his most noteworthy opponent in a box-off to decid the U.S. Olympic team member. The Olympic Trials don't even begin until the middle of 2008 so nobody right now has any idea whatsoever who is going to be at the Trials at that time. In 1988 I fought intournament with people like Rid**** Bowe, Tommy Morrison, Roy Jones Jr. Michael Carbajal, Andrew Maynard, Ray Mercer, Mike bent, Darin Allen, Kelcie Banks, Charles Murray, etc. etc. to qualify.

So say a guy beats everyone and his most noteworthy opponent is a guy he already beat to win the Trials. So he's undefeated and fights the guy he already beat to see who goes to the olympics, if he loses, they won't have another box-off to give the undefeated guy a 2nd chance, even though the other guy got a second chance? That would seem unfair if that situation happened.

the champ defends against the noteworthy. if he beats him then he goes to the olympics. if he loses to the most noteworthy then they fight again and the winner of THAT fight goes. believe it or not, Thats how RI**** BOWE and ANDREW MAYNARD made the olympics in 1988.

The people of the USA Boxing commission vote on it. It is often thr trials runner up but sometimes it is the guy that has been particularly succesful and prolific over the previous couple of years.

If an amateur boxer is the champion in more then one category, ie. he's the National GG Champ and the Eastern Trials Champ. does he have two chances at the Olimpic team or is the runner-up of one of those categories takes his place? or could it be that being the champ in more then one category is not possible?

ICEMAN, I've found out that Roy Jones Jr won absolutely nothing in 1988 so how the **** did he get to the Olympic Trials? Surely it should of been Tim Littles and Frankie Liles as the two guys fighting for a place at the Olympics? If not those two, then definately Gerald McClellan seeing as he handed Tim Littles his ass in the final of the 87 US Nationals and defeated Jones Jr at the 88 Golden Gloves. How did Jones Jr even get to the Olympic Trials?

Tim, Frank And Roy All Made The Trials. Frank Beat Tim And Roy Beat Frank. Roy Got In As The Most Noteworthy. Many Thought Gerald Should Have Gotten That Spot But Rj Definitely Had The Better Olympic Style , As He Proved
