I keep hearing marquez is shot

but in his last 5 fights, he's shown no evidence of that, why is he suddenly a bad opponent for pacquiao now?

yeah the weight is bs, but it's still a fight, and marquez is still strong.

He has been getting hit more often than before and to some, he looks a bit slower. I wouldn't say he's shot, but he is past-prime, then again all of these guys are in their mid to late thirties.

He's not shot. He's just not as fast on his feet as he once was and has slower reflexes. At 38 and at a weight higher than 135 you can't expect him to be a good opponent for Pacquiao.

You right Marquez is not shot. Marquez also is not close to the fighter he was in the last fight with Manny. A prime Marquez doesn't IMO struggle but eventually dispose of a Katsidis and Marquez would have blew out Juan Diaz both times.

Who said he was shot? A lot of people just don't believe he has a chance. If Michael Katsidis can knock him on his ass what do you think Pacquiao will do? Pacquiao has taken punches from legit 147+ pounders. Is Marquez's power supposed to bother him now?

Cmon bro u dont know the answer ?

Its not that he is completely shot is just that since their last fight Manny has become more muscular faster stronger and a more complete fighter and he went from 29 years old to 32 years old not bad eeh. He also became p4p king.

Marquez won his fights and deserves the shot thats for sure but he is 37 now! And will be 38 in a couple of weeks!.... i know there are lots of fighters now fighting at these age, but for a mexican warrior that has been in so many hard fights its not that common to still be fighting so close to 40.

AND all of his fights since he fought pacquiao have been really hard ( except for that BS fight he had a month ago ) plus he failed when trying to go to a higher weight class while manny has become used to fighting at this higher weight classes.

So thats why everyone favor Manny u get it ?

Still the only thing that makes this fight so interesting for me its the Obsession that Juan manuel has for Manny hahaha i am sure he will train his heart out.

Marquez isn't shot. He's just not the same fighter he was at 126 and 130. He looked slow as f**k against Ramos and his legs/reflexes have shown a huge decline over the years. He has "just jab me" written all over him.

Add in the weight class disadvantage, and I honestly don't see how Pacquiao won't blow him out in 6 rounds if he doesn't go easy on him.

I'm sure Marquez can be strong on fight night; the real issue is he effective at that weight. Considering his weight gain, one would have to understand the concept of marginality that is, what he stands to gain will result in the loss of something else. So...that being said he will ultimately sacrifice a level of output in order to gain something else in his arsenal this assumes he tries to meet pac at the pre-determined weight.

To your point he isn't shot...........but there is a disadvantage here...unfortunately, there is no way around the obvious truth that Marquez is fighting above his "optimal" weight" or "effective weight".
