It's crazy how both guys react so fast and so masterfully to the punches that go their way.

Floyd looks flashy in there hitting you when he can while Toney looked bored but at the same time he was putting a boxing clinic on his opponents.

floyds best stoppage to date........ also i noticed that in that floyd highlight reel, not one highlight from the castillo fights...hhmm? not that much clean counter punching in those ones.

no, although floyds is HIGHLY IMPRESSIVE, toney would stay in the pocket and make guys miss and tag them with clean shots, some times fight ending shots, in between making guys miss........

floyd just pulled clean counters that can't be denied. floyd avoided usually one punch, more times than most just a jab, and counter with the right hand.

whereas toney was making guys miss with 5-6-7 punch combos' and then was tagging them in between, ****ing them up......

toney takes the edge in the being better department, which is mainly due to style and fight temperament, toney wanted to mix it up and wanted to make guys miss and school them, floyd is avoiding getting hit and hit back clean, but isnt looking to close the show or put one on his opponent, the difference is the killer instinct, which i think toney has/had more of........ toney tried taking out all of his opponents, never once tried to carry a guy or coast to a win.....NEVER!

exactly, he not only made you miss, he made you pay....... and he stood in the pocket the whole time....... he was like a bigger version of sweet pea, but more of the old school philly shell type style, but to toney, it's just the old school style......

no, remember, toney was never really fit above light heavy, he would get in fighting condition, but never in shape, plus he was older with diminishing reflexes and skills, and he was still slicker than any HW or any Cruiser.....

it was his style, it was his instinct, his muscle memory, and his overall badassness that made him so slick and a threat to 99% of the guys that fought him..........

also, james toney, to my knowledge, has never cherry picked either as a fighter, from what i remember, he fought guys whether it was a good business move on his part or not.........

james toney is a mans man, a boxers boxer, a fighters fighter, and a terror to interviewers........ lol....

If we're talking just counter punching, and not defense as well, Marquez is better than Floyd. He's built a pretty damn good career solely off his counter punching ability.
