Mares seemed like a stand up, honest dude..

But him saying things like "the knockdowns were good", and "I never went low"
not only makes himself look bad and like a douche but also unlikeable to the fans.
Mexican fans will still love him regardless tho.. Donaire knocks his head off
I wanna see a rematch with Agbeko tho

Should have just left it unsaid. Or if he is going to comment about it then say "if I ever committed some low blows, I apologize." Follow it up with, "I was just caught in the heat of the moment and I was always aiming for his guts, not to do some intentional low blows."

Smart words right there. But instead we get a snooty kid who basically said "I won this fight fair and square. And I'm a clean fighter." Yea whatever man, in your head and not from us boxing fans regardless of being hardcore and casual at it.

Also, he could have just deflected it and left it at "Well, it is the job of the referee and officials to conduct the fight properly. I am just here to fight."

The kid is a dumba55. And he knows he freaking committed a lot of intentional low blows. He didn't even apologize or anything. I hope this guy gets knockout in his next fight for being a dirty fighter.

I dont know about racist but a few other posters pointed out that this is the same ref who dqed Peterson against Rios, took points away from Katsidis against Guerrero without warning and didnt stop the Montiel fight right away when he was unfit to keep fighting. Notice a trend here?

No never, not racist at all IMO.

Just that he favors La Raza.

If Mares isn't a dirty fighter, I don't know who is. Watch his last few fights and tell me he isn't a dirty fighter.

If you're capable of understanding this without having it explained to you then surely you understand that Mares was fighting within the rules that were defined in that ring by the Ref's inactions. So why so much hate for Mares? It should be directed towards the Ref. He bears the responsibility of what is tolerated on any given night. Mares was taking what was being given to him. Understand, the Ref ****ed up this fight for Agbeko and the fans not Mares.

Now I'm a fan of both guys. Here's what I would've wanted Agbeko to do. If after bringing it to the refs attention there arent any corrections being made I would've liked to see Agbeko protect himself. Strategic retaliation. A possible point deduction might have occurred but it would've forced corrective attention to what was being ignored up to that point. It would've been ultimately better for Agbeko to lose a point early rather than being severely handicapped over the course of 12 rds from multiple undeterred low blows.

I hope someone interviews Mares after he's had a chance to view the fight in its entirety. I'd like to hear what his opinions are at that point in regards to the Ref, the punch placement and the KD's.
