Nearly 40% of Khan-Judah Tickets Were Giveaways...

In a continuing storyline of boxing becoming a sport which is commercially dominated by just a few (TWO?) fighters, the paid attendance for a highly publicized Amir Khan vs Zab Judah fight on HBO showed that nearly 40% of the tickets to Khan/Judah were giveaways.

Now, this is not a Khan slam. This is not unusual, and not even that bad when you compare* it to other recent fights.

    Thoughts?

Should this fight have been in the NY-area? or Atlantic City?

Judah was pushing for the fight to be in Jersey, where he has actually sold tickets.

The continue to negotiate for an agreement to match junior welterweight champions Zab Judah and Amir Khan on July 23. Judah disclosed that Khan's side offered a revised split of 55-45 in the British boxer's favor. On Saturday they were deadlocked with Khan demanding a 60-40 split and Judah standing ground on an even 50-50.

Khan was pretty insistent on Vegas, and the attendance was soft.

The U.S. boxing attendance just sucks. In fact, the number of tickets sold for this fight were actually pretty decent compared to other HBO cards. Amir Khan can go to England and sell a bunch of tickets against a big name and show that he's also a dominant figure.

                    Hamed packed MSG, though.

The ****** community is robust in NYC and North Jersey.
