    Analysis

So now that you've seen the odds, what should you be thinking before you bet on Floyd Mayweather vs. Victor Ortiz? Obviously Mayweather is a very large favorite for this fight, and that's going to show up in all of the available odds and lines. Really then, it depends on what kind of odds you want to exploit, and who you truly believe will win the fight.

If you think Mayweather is simply a superior fighter and is assured of winning, then the smallest odds you can find for him winning the fight right now are -675. Putting your money down there might be a safe bet but still obviously won't get you much of a return, at all.

On the other hand, if you think Ortiz has what it takes to potentially pull off an upset, then there are some fantastic odds you can take advantage of. A lot of people will be backing Ortiz in this match-up because of his power and aggression, because of the fact that Mayweather is older and maybe even a bit rusty, and because the odds are simply too juicy too ignore. Taking Ortiz at +450 or +500 for a modest wager that could pay off in a major way is a smart move, if you think that there is decent chance of the upset taking place.

bet on the under. Ortiz lunges too much and is chinny. He's going to get ricky hatton'd.

Not saying that Ortiz wins, but in terms of betting, if there was ever a time to bet on the other guy, who happens to be a underdog in the odds, now is it.

34 is different from 30 or even 32, or could be. You're only a certain age once in your life and know how you will perform from one calendar year to the other. You even get worse at playing chess if not doing it regularly, and don't see the simplest openings or moves that you would usually on the board.

On top of that, you're facing a younger & more active fighter. Maybe 7 years from now, two Trolls on Boxingscene will be going back and forth on how Ortiz clearly beat a past-prime Floyd and that his win over a prime Khan is the best on his Boxrec stats.

Sports Interation is giving damn near 10:1 on Ortiz as an underdog?

        Too good to pass up.

Losing $100 doesn't sting that bad. Winning $1000 makes me smile.

there are a few guys I will never bet against - floyd, pac and hopkins.

Those odds are there to entice you. As a casual gambler I try not to bet simply because of the odds are so great. Gotta play who you believe is going to win.

Don't buy into those bull**** odds. Bet your house on Floyd schooling Ortiz.

10-1 seems to even be generous.

I'd seriously give Victor about a 5% chance of winning.

Bet my house to win....a can of paint?

I only place those bets if I want a souvenir ticket from the fight weekend. No play on a prohibitive favourite. You gotta find the round bets or Over/under.
