Ray Leonard was nowhere near as good at 160 as he was at 147. to say otherwise is foolish.

    Hopkins is a top 5 middleweight all-time.

A Hop/SRL fight would look nothing like Rays fight with Hagler.

Hopkins by UD in a tactical fight.

My gut says hed lose a decision to robinson, win a close decision over leaonard (at 160) and hed lose a wide decision or be TKO'ed by Hagler.

Of course he wouldn't knock out Hagler, then again, nobody could.

If Roberto Duran could give Hagler hell at 160, so could Hopkins. It would be a close tactical battle, but Hagler would do well early and would out brawl Hop later in the fight when Hopkins elects to throw more.

that is some ****ish stuff for hopkins to say; but on a side note- i don't really disagree with him. i respect the **** out of all of the aforementioned lagacies, but if i strip down the glitz and glam of it all- i could see him beating any of those fighters 3 out of 5 (or perhaps 6) times.
just one guy's opinion though. i think it's easy to shortchange hopkins because he acts like a prick at times, but he's a great fighter.

Hopkins' size might be a big factor in the Leonard fight. Hearns was beating Leonard from the outside but ran out gas/got knocked out. Hopkins isnt as good as Hearns from the outside, but is good enough to score on Leonard as a middleweight.

Hagler was still a beast in '83. I'm not talking about the older, tired Hagler who brawled with Hearns and Mugabi.

If i'm not mistaken, Hagler was just coming off two tactical dissections of Obelmeijas(spelling?), Roldan and Sibson. Sure he wasn't the TOP TOP form of Hagler, but he was still incredible. Duran was WELLLLLL past his best weight and fighting form, and he gave Hagler 15 rounds of grief.

Hopkins would be in a close fight with ANY form of Hagler. I'm a huge Hagler fan but I have to be realistic...Hopkins is a great fighter himself. It would be close but Hagler would take the decision.
