Comments Thread For: Soto vs Alfaro: WBC Interim Belt is Possibly at Stake

Former champion Humberto "Zorrita" Soto is attempting to speed up the process of securing another title opportunity. Soto recently vacated the WBC lightweight title and announced a move in weight to 140-pounds. He returns on Saturday September 3 against tough Nicaraguan Jose Alfaro, a former WBA champion. Soto (56-7-2, 32 KOs) will face Alfaro (25-7-0, 22 knockouts) in Los Mochis, but the venue has not been officially announced.

lol against alfaro thats not a worthy opponent for a title I would like the idea of Soto having to fight Morales or Matthysse for the full title afterwards if it did indeed happen though.

        A joke

NOTHING the WBC/Suliaman does surprises me, NOTHING. It SUKS!! He's making a WWE mockery of our sport. Suliaman is thee Vince McMahon?Vicky Guerrero of boxing. Get lost. But... from what I understand it's his son that's next in line so... I doubt if this will end anytime soon. Lord help us!!

Another easy, setup belt for Soto. What a shock. This smells worse than the original Morales-Barrios matchup for a title

This isn't as bad as people think. Soto was the champ at 135, and when you move up you become the mandatory. That's how Campbell became the mandatory to Bradley's WBO title. Bradley will likely get a shot at Morales/Matthysse before Soto does, unless Sulaiman wants to get the crap sued out of him, so Soto would have to beat the winner of that fight to become a four division champ. So he certainly won't be given the title.

I'd like to see Soto fight the Holt-Garcia winner before getting a shot at the title though. Just so he can test himself at the weight. I mean he hasn't exactly looked his best lately.
