Steward has said that Cotto fought Margarito too fast the first time and that in the rematch he will fight at a slower pace. This could mean one of two things 1) that Cotto won't move as much and 2) That Cotto wont throw as much or it could mean both. Do You Think that is a good idea? Margarito throws a lot of punches so if Cotto slows down and throws less than in the first fight he could get outworked and lose a decision. I think what Cotto needs to do is throw the Jab at a very high rate and follow that by left hooks when Margarito gets to close then turn him and start all over with Jabs, jabs, jabs.
Cotto Fighting At A Slower Pace Is Good Or Bad VS Margarito?

I just think that he doesn't want Cotto to move so much, from rope to rope like he did the first time. He got a busted nose in the second and was moving way too much, giving away position and decreasing his stamina.
I think his fight plan in the Mayorga fight was very much planned. Stay in the middle, move infrequently, plant the jab and keep circling him. If you let Tony move freely and have the ability to close in on you, you are fighting his fightComment

If Miguel fights the same way he did in the first fight he will win. Marga-plaster wont have plaster and his punches will not damage cotto like the first fight.
Just watch the fight and notice how margaritas punches won't do shyt to cotto.Comment

Cotto's not going to have a choice. When you fight Margarito, you fight to fight a fast pace or you are going to lose. Even this Margarito.Comment

Two things Cotto should do are work the body which is something he neglected in the first fight. The other would be to clinch more which is what Mosley did whenever Marg tried to mount any kind of offense. Maybe doing those things might allow Cotto to fight at a slower pace.Comment

I just didn't see any evidence of Marg slowing down vs. Pac. He was on his ass every mi ute of every round. Cotto doesn't clinch at all so unless he does that, the pace will be the same. Now he could circle more instead of backing up to the ropes. That would help him defensively. It doesn't mean he won't have to be on the move constantly.
Unless he clinches of course. He just doesn't do that.Comment

Have you ever seen a fighter take a sustained beating like the one Margo took and come back the same?I just didn't see any evidence of Marg slowing down vs. Pac.
