Erik is playing it smart, he knows it will be easier for him fighting Maidana than Amir Khan. He does not have a chance winning a fight against Amir Khan. Amir Khan is a rangy strong fighter with fast hands.

I don't know, I have a hard time believing they would start out offering Morales 1.5M (and Morales hasn't even won his next fight yet) when their final offer to Bradley was what? 1.4M with 50/50 UK PPV $? And Bradley was #1 with 2 straps? Unless Morales truly knows he can't beat Khan and cares more about the strap then the money (which IS possible) - it would seem it was more strategy. But who knows, Erik isn't even a for sure win over Matthyse anyway IMO. Does Khan make an offer to Matthyse if he beats Morales? Not Wise Morales; Maidana Will Hurt You Next Time!
At this stage of his career, Morales best go get double the money and a title shot with Amir Khan, than to let your ego get in the way and tangle with Maidana again. Marcos is young and strong enough to have those wars multiple times for some years to come. Morales has been having those wars for years. He's one battle away from getting hurt and his career ended at this stage. You didn't beat Maidana, it was a close fight, Maidana would be even more prepared next time, and with youth and strength on his side, would probably stop Morales in devastating fashion. Morales heard all the naysayers prior to his fight with Marcos, and fear was a great motivator! He can't fight a better fight than is last effort against Maidana. He fought to save his life, to not get hurt or knocked out, to finish the fight on his feet, and he exceeded expectations. But that's as good as it gets. Marcos Maidana would be a better fighter, better conditioned next time around, and that gets Morales KO'd. So Erik, go have one war with Khan for double the money and a title shot, then call it a career. Then if you still want a shot with Maidana, have at it. But if you go get destroyed by Maidana first, you'll never sniff that fight and payday with Khan.Comment

Anyone talking ***** on Morales needs to open their eyes. He's obviously past prime and still taking very dangerous fights. The man's a warrior and deserves respect. I thought Maidana was gonna kill him when they fought, but was pleasantly surprised to see the old warrior fight his heart out with only one eye.
Matthyse is another animal though. He's a hard hitter, like Maidana, but throws straighter, faster punches. Very dangerous fight imo.
