This would be more exiciting than Lacy-Calzaghe, I reckon.
Tarver offers options to Calzaghe
Antonio Tarver's promoter Joe DeGuardia has opened up the possibility of a February super-fight with Joe Calzaghe.
Calzaghe hopes to arrange a super middleweight unification bout on 4 February with IBF champion Jeff Lacy.
But that is in doubt after Calzaghe's broken hand caused the cancellation of their original November date, and now DeGuardia has suggested an alternative.
"Calzaghe's back in February and that's our next date so let's see what happens," he told the Boxing Talk site.
Florida-based Tarver is regarded as the leading light heavyweight in the world after this month's points win over Roy Jones Jr.
Calzaghe, the world's best super middleweight, has long talked about stepping up a division if he could secure a worthwhile fight, and the potential match-up would be intriguing.
"We looked at Calzaghe before the Roy fight came to light and he [Calzaghe] should know that Tarver is ready and able to fight him," said DeGuardia.
"Calzaghe should be looking this way if he really wants to make a mark in the US and establish himself as a player in boxing."
