  • Comments Thread For: Klitschko Takes a Pass, Wach Plans October Return

Undefeated heavyweight contender Mariusz Wach will not be facing unified champion Wladimir Klitschko in 2011. Both boxers have decided to go different routes, with Klitschko proceeding with another opponent in November and Wach returning in October. Wach (25-0, 13 KO) of North Bergen, NJ by way of Krakow, Poland is coming off his career best performance, a fourth round knockout of Kevin McBride last weekend.

How is a guy whose best career win was Kevin McBride being considered as an opponent? I'm glad we don't have to see that one, at least for now

The hate and loathing for Wach on this board is amazing. That's what the guy gets for doing his job well and scoring a big KO.

Hate and Loath????? The dude needs to prove himself for a few years before being mentioned in the same breath as one of the Klitchkos. Right now he is a nobody, a complete unknown.

Albert Sosnowski and Kevin Johnson weren't exactly household names, neither was Dereck Chisora, who Wlad signed to fight.

It's cool that Wach will have more time, but there has been some real venom toward the guy here that is hard to figure.

I wonder who Wlad will fight in November?

There doesn't seem to be a lot of options for that month, although more people will be available in early 2012.

I'm hoping Povetkin mans up and becomes willing to fight Wlad after he wins the decision over Chagaev.

Or Dimitrenko drops the unnecessary fight with Sprott and fights Wlad instead.

There are some people willing, but too old: Toney, Boswell, McCall, and Holyfield.

Jean-Marc Mormeck might be available, and he's coming off two wins over fringe contenders. No doubt the Klitschko haters will b1tch and b1tch about it if Wlad chooses to fight him.

Sosnowski was the European champ and Johnson was the best American heavyweight available.

Wach isnt even the best Polish HW...

true, as long as he fights a top 20 opponet. would lveo to see him fight povetkin or Helenius (best heavyweights after the K Bros)

If not, a fight vs mormeck will be big in paris, or boystov, Ustinov or one of the americans in holyfield, tarver, toney

i just want him to destroy holyfield, only way he will retire

I didn't say they were bad fighters, but the predominant reaction to them was much the same as to Wach: "Who?"

Boxing has got to be the only sport where you can do a great job, perform well, and instead of getting some praise for it, the result is people ripping you from pillar to post.

Boxers who read boxing forums are crazy. There are no more negative fans in any other sport on earth.
