Comments Thread For: Erik Morales: I Am Crazy, But I'll Beat Lucas Matthysse

Former three division champion Erik Morales (51-7, 35 KOs) is loving his role as the underdog. The Mexican icon is preparing for a scheduled fight with dangerous Argentine boxer Lucas Matthysse (28-2, 26 KOs). The battle will be featured as on the pay-per-view undercard to Floyd Mayweather Jr.-Victor Ortiz, which takes place on September 17 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

This is definitely a winnable fight for Morales. Amir Khan, however, is nowhere close to a winnable fight for Morales. . . . I think Khan completely shuts out Morales, or gets a late stoppage. He can't be beat at 140 pounds. So if Morales wins this fight he should target Devon Alexander, or another one of the weaker top names.

Morales and Marquez..... anyone, anywhere, anytime

Both simply outstanding examples as to how a fighter should carry himself.

        WARRR Morales !!

WTF do they feed those Mexicans ?

Although, imho you may possibly be a couple of adjectives short in your assessment of Morales/Matthyse..... I would add "big ask", and "real hard day at the office".

        Jeez Eric.

Morales is using his cunning stealth tactical approach on the junior welterweight division by kicking the front door down with both guns blazing.

Total disrespect towards Morales give him a big name or current belt holder.

biggest fan of Barrera on boxingscene.

I think this is a winnable fight for Morales but I don't think he will win it..I think he will do just enough to lose a exciting fight..

Morales picked maidana and has picked mathysse for a reason he can outbox them it's as simple as that aslong as he keeps himself from getting hit big then the score cards won't be a problem but in a khan fight he cant win khan will just outbox him.

morales is crazy to take on two big punchers one after another.
gotta give him props though. he sure has balls the size of a melon.
it's a winnable fight , although the show is pretty much in place to put another strap on khan.

The problem I see for Morales is Matts is a better boxer then Maidana..

Morales no longer has the legs, stamina or speed to catch the much faster and bigger Khan with hard crisp punches; Even Judah had trouble landing against him when he was in range. However at this stage of his career, fighters like Matthysse and Maidana play right into Eric's hands because they are much slower and easier to find with solid counter punches. Moreover, they both like to walk their opponents down even while eating some punches in the process.
