Lets not forget this about Victor Ortiz

I am glad FMJ is fighting a young left handed fighter but lets not forget that Ortiz did not look that great after the first couple of rounds against Lamont Peterson, never really seriously got Nate Campbell in trouble, and didnt look that great against Hector Allatore. It may have been the weight but who knows. He did look great against Berto and I loved his grit and determination in that fight but to me before that he hadnt been all that impressive recently. I expect Mayweather to win all 12 rounds and afterwards we can hear how Money shut out the best welterweight in the world at the time and you cant fault him, he only fights the best.

Ortiz I think can be powerful and unpredictable enough to beat Floyd in my opinion

People never forget things but its a totally diffent sitauation. He's a different animal at WW then he is at 140. I bet anything he owns all those guys right now. Even Roach said he would give Pac hell at WW but was always weak and a lesser fighter when he would drop down

The fact that Ortiz weighed 161 pounds on fight night AND WAS FIT tells me that the weight is much better for him. The man had clearly been drained. Couple that with the fact that his Lamont Peterson fight was only 10 rounds and his endurance was bad, whereas he was VERY active the entire Berto fight. Ortiz threw 696 punches in 12 rounds, compared to 457 in his 10 round bout vs Peterson. This translates to an average of 45.7 punches against Peterson vs. 58 punches per round in the Berto fight. Couple this with the fact that Ortiz successfully covered from some huge shots and maintained a high work rate. Also, there was a good amount of strenuous inside fighting and grappling, further adding to the work rate. Freddie Roach also admitted that Ortiz needed to move up, and he has no interest in promoting Ortiz.

The point is that I don't think the Berto fight is a fluke. This is my take, what do you guys think?

I just don't see how a man can go from JWW fights at 140 to a ripped fight night weight of 161 and not have been drained. That's a difference of 21 ****ing pounds. That isn't healthy and anyone with any knowledge of sports physiology knows that. And there is a slim chance, being as athletic as he is, that he put on 7 pounds of lean muscle mass in 4 months. That would be really normal for a guy that doesn't work out all the time, but he is already in superb shape. Anyone that knows about muscle building knows it ain't that easy once you've been working out a while.

Technically I started watching boxing just a few years ago, but I've tried to follow it as closely as possible since I started. Thanks man.

I wonder why Roach said Ortiz at 147 gives Pac hell in sparing and that he should have moved to the division a long time ago as he struggled to make weight at 140 , Pac didnt look so great getting knocked out and somewhere he turned around and improved big time from being koed , so maybe just maybe Ortiz is much better fighter today at 147 than he has ever been , if you read the form for what it is without the crap the internet ****heads claim after the fight that Berto was over rated , how do you be in close fight of the year in a world title fight and be over rated , maybe Ortiz is good and so was Berto , in my view its a dangerous fight for Floyd more so that Pac , and Ortiz isnt milking anything he has just moved into the big time , what do you want him to do , not mention his biggest win ?
