Dan, so what should the WBC have done? I'm not defending them, but they had a champ who didn't take the biggest fight available, wasn't going to defend his belt, was moving into a different weight class, and wanted to fight there. Why NOT strip it? Although, I have to concur, the Olusegun - Cheebah fight should have been the title fight.

Because they didnt follow their own rules. Bradley was under no obligation to fight Khan. I have said a thousand times he should have taken the deal. BUT BUT BUT it was not a mandatory. So the wretched WBC wasnt forcing that fight. His mandatory is not even set and nowhere near due. As for his promotional issues, that is not the concern of the wretched WBC until such time as his mandatory is due. For a guy to go six months with no fight is NOTHING. MANY MANY MANY MANY guys who have held wretched WBC titles have gone WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY longer than that without a peep. Promotional issues can be solved at a moment's notice. Look at Top Rank and Donaire? One day battling and then it got settled and he'll be back in October. So this inactivity/promotional stuff is all a BS smokescreen for the wretched WBC to hand Morales a shot at a belt. Simple as that. At worst, Golden Boy conspired wit the wretched WBC. At best, it is a hypocrite.

And also -- the wretched WBC was ready and willing to sanction Morales-Barrios, as horrific a title bout as they could muster. I have no real issue with Morales getting an opportunity, but make it legit. Barrios was a JOKE. He is not ranked by the wretched WBC (amazingly), had not fought for 11 months and had never fought in the division. So he was going to get the show over the guys signed for a final eliminator? Seriously? Matthysse getting the fight makes it better but the fact is him and Morales lost their last fights. Doesn't mean I don't want to see them fight. I like that fight a lot. I will enjoy it. My point is it should not be for a vacant title that should never have been vacated in the first place.

The WBC is obligated to strip the belt if the champion doesn't fight their mandatories, not 'the biggest fight available'. Also, unless Bradley surrendered the belt in writing, he technically was still a 140 lber even if he has eyes towards Pacquiao and Mayweather (as does pretty much everyone else).

Of course. They applied things inconsistently. Go look and see how often Oscar made a mandatory when he was champion? RARELY. How often did he go more than 6 months between fights. The wretched WBC is a joke and the promoters are in bed with them.

I used to like Rafael, but to me lately his ego is getting as big as his waistline. Since he's been on Twitter especially -- he's obsessed with it and it has really caused him to become more egotistical and arrogant. His Friday chats used to be good, and now they are a joke -- he won't deal with anyone who doesn't agree with him 100% about everything and only posts people who kiss his ass repeatedly, or people who he can sick his pack of ass-kissers on when they say something he doesn't like.

i believe this is oscar's retaliation when dan rafael recently called golden boy promotions as "hypocrites" for trying to steal donaire from top rank.
