Great card. More than worthy for PPV. This should be a great night, cant wait.

This Mayweather Ortiz STARPOWER event will do 1.6+ ppv buys. With the names on the card and the fact that it is Mexican Independence weekend, I wouldn't be surprised if it does near 2 million ppv buys. Mayweather Ortiz isnt mayweather-pac but its an intriguing fight, mainly to see if floyd still has the skill to toy with a young up and coming brawler. Also Mayweather aint getting any younger, hes 34 and cant keep his speed forever, which gives vic a chance, which makes the fight more interesting.
Alvarez and Morales will help add to the mexican viewership. Alvarez is the most popular fighter among mexicans and mexican americans already. Many are questioning his opponent in Gomez but it still makes an interesting fight, and the kid is still only 21. Now that Morales is fighting Matthyesse which is a very good intense matchup, the card has just become stacked.
Love him or hate him, but Floyd is the ppv king right now. His last 3 ppv buys have been better than pacs last 3 ppv buys. For those saying theres no buzz for this fight, wait til the 24/7 kicks off. Thats when the buzz kicks in. Mayweather will do his thing, and Ortiz will bring a new storyline and he will benefit for the show because he has an interesting estranged background and has recent unique personal hobbies.
Assuming nobody gets hurt or pulls out, this event will do very well economically and will benefit for the sport of boxing. It will also slap the mma lover fans (who say boxing is dead) in the face and let them know that boxing is still on top in the combat sports world, as well as financially. As for that debate, you cannot deny documented ppv buy statistics, the same statistics that Dana White never discloses.Comment
