Micallef Promotions in Malta will stage the first sanctioned professional boxing event ever on this tiny Meditterranean island in late October. The show will feature eight fights and if all goes to plan they will feature at least four local fighters. The main fights, a female fight for a WIBA world title and a contest for the WBF I/C bauble, will have the involvement of imported talents. There´s been professional boxing in Malta before but none with a sanctioning body behind. The newly formed Malta Boxing Commission is a full member of the EBU.
