  • How much would you pay for this card?

Hey, I hope everybody is doing fine.

I wish to know what is the highest price you would pay for this card to see it televised at the beginning of the next year:

    Samuel Peter vs. David Tua
Jeff Lacy vs. Antonio Tarver at LightHeavyweight
    Lamon Brewster vs. John Ruiz
Vitali Klitschko vs. Lennox Lewis II

I think the Peter-Tua bout should be scheduled for 4 rounds only, so "action" is guaranteed. And what kind of action ...

    Thanks.

i'd pay $70 if need be. but you'd have to add hatton/tszyu 2 instead of brewster/ruiz for me.

I would be mad that so much would be on in the same evening.

Replace Brewster/Ruiz with Judah/Margarito... Now that would be a perfect card. All my favs fight on a same night.

I don't think that good, competitive or interesting fights should necessarily make a card pay-per-view worthy. I'd like to see Samuel Peter face David Tua because of the styles, but Tua has also been away for a while. I'd prefer to see how much he has left first. Lacy and Tarver might be the best match-up on the card, but it still doesn't say PPV to me. Brewster-Ruiz is a unification bout, yes, but it's not "oh, I gotta pay for that." And as for Vitali and Lennox? Too late. So what would I pay for that card? I'd pay the gas to drive to the sports bar and back, I'd pay for my food there and I'd pay the cover fee if I had to.

Of the PPVs this year that I can recall off of the top of my head, here's how I handled them:

                  Morales-Pacquiao - purchased
                  Barrera-Fana - skipped
                  ESPN show - purchased
                  Wright-Trinidad - purchased
                  Adios Chavez - sports bar
                  Gatti-Mayweather - purchased
                  Hopkins-Taylor - purchased
                  Rahman-Barrett - sports bar
                  Tarver-Jones - sports bar
                  Corrales-Castillo - purchased

I wonder how rarely I'd spend the money to catch whole cards if I wasn't doing the column. Otherwise, I'd either hit sports bars or watch the repeat a week later. But then again, I've become extremely jaded about PPVs. I almost think that the only truly worthy PPVs now would be ones with two megafights and one lesser, but still interesting match. I don't think I should have to plop fifty dollars down just to see Gatti, with the bonus of a decent undercard. HBO isn't free, but it's still cheaper than the dollars we're shelling out.

                  Like I said, extremely jaded.

They should spread cards out a lot better than they do. There is no reason why we couldn't have boxing on every single Saturday with at least 3 fights, all with named people or at least good prospects.
