Comments Thread For: Tarver: A Rematch With Hopkins is a Beautiful Fight

IBO cruiserweight champion Antonio Tarver is very focused on trying to land a rematch with Bernard Hopkins, the current WBC light heavyweight champion. In 2006, Tarver blew up to heavyweight for his starring role in the Rocky Balboa film. He dropped 50-pounds to make 174-pounds for a scheduled fight with Hopkins. During the fight, Tarver showed little to no offense and Hopkins was able to dominate the twelve round fight.

Hopkins would be in trouble if he went up too high. CW has a wide weight range, so he'd have to proportion himself properly. If he could be the same form of himself at CW that he is as a LHW, Tarver gets dominated again. And the 1st fight was one sided enough that Hopkins certainly doesn't owe him anything. I'd rather see him fight Cloud and/or Bute after Dawson if he can beat Dawson.

Would anyone give Hop credit if he beat Tarver (again) and won a title at CW just to make history?

Come on Bernard, you need to beat a legend like Green first.

Seriously though, I often wondered why Nard didnt take the fight with Green back when it was first offered? Green was there for the taking.

I agree man, he would be better to fight as the smaller guy.

Even though Tarver will hold the weight better, I cant see Hopkins getting out-muscled unless he loses his speed and timing.
