IBF cruiserweight champion Steve Cunningham (24-2, 12KOs) is targeting a unification with IBO champ Antonio Tarver (29-6, 20KOs), who recently stopped Danny Green to capture the title. Cunningham wants a year-end battle with Tarver, but the "Magic Man" is interested in avenging his lopsided decision loss to Bernard Hopkins, which took place a few years ago. After Hopkins, Tarver has expressed interest in moving back to the heavyweight division to challenge WBC champion Vitali Klitschko.

What would Hopkins gain by fighting Tarver again? He beat him handily in the first fight and it was boring. Tarver doesn't have a title or bring anything to the table, he should fight Cunningham if he want's bigger fights.

A unification? Please. We're talking about the IBO title here.

Now don't get me wrong, I respect the IBO because they rank their fighters without bias or human intervention, but out of all divisions their Cruiserweight Belt is the biggest joke of all.

They gifted it to Green against some bum who could barely walk and then they allowed him to defend it at 190 lbs and under, then at 195 lbs. Only against Tarver was the belt actually contested at the legal weight limit.

The IBO belt shouldn't even be worth mentioning at Cruierweight until it establishes a legitimate lineage.

Cunningham should be calling out Huck, or Haye. He's just looking for a bigger payday with Tarver.

I like Steve but I think he was on his way to getting KO'd by Troy Ross before the thumb in the eye, pretty ridiculous for him to refer to himself as "the best cruiserweight in the world". And he wouldn't get any closer to that claim by beating an old Tarver. Rematch Ross, fight Huck or Lebedev, or move up to heavyweight and rematch Adamek!
