Ali was directly responsible for Don Kings rise to prominence as a promoter in amaerica. Who do you think promoted all of Alis fights. Who do you think made Alis opponents sign a contract stating that if the opponent was to defeat Ali that King would then have exclusive rights to promoting that fighters next title defenses. Who do you think contros the heavyweight division with corrupt contracts.

If a fighter will not sign a contract agreeing to allow Don King to promote his next fights, should he win the tilte from Kings fighter, he will not fight for the title. Ali was good. Don King is not.

I was spending time with former featherwieght champion Tom "Boom Boom" Johnson a while back and he shared some stories with me that were crazy.

Tom had to sign with King as King always demands after winning the title. For one of his defenses King demanded that Tom go out to train at Kings personal training camp. While there, Tom was instructed by King to never be shy about what he needed or wanted while at the camp. So for like a month or two Tom trained, fought the fight and went to King for his check. Tom got his check and instantly noticed that the sum of the check was significantly smaller than the agreed on amount. When confronting King about the descrepancy, King coyly stated, "Its all in the contract...." Tom again looked over the contract and found a stipulation where if he was to use Kings training camp that he would be charged $10,000 per day. Tom was under the impression, as King had made it appear, that he was a guest of Kings at this camp. If Tom would not train at the camp King stated that he would not get the fight or the purse. To this day, Tom has had financial difficulty for various reasons. Giving money to friends, bad investments, hangers on or leeches. To this day Tom contends that King owes him $250,000 for the fight.

Tom is one of the kindest and generous people that I have met. When I went to his house he was almost overaccomadating with his kindness. King has ****ed many people, many honest and good people. He takes advantage of under educated people who dont know much beside boxing. King is not king, he resembles more a jester who was givin' power by another king, that king being Muhammad Ali.

      Rockin'

pbf34, as great of a champ as ali was, i also don't agree with some of the things he stood for - such as blacks and whites should never be wed to eachother. that idea is just plain ******.

i never said he was right, and in one of my posts, i said i disagreed with him on many topics, but calling him a disgrace to boxing etc etc, is just a ludicrous statement
