Why do people act offended at Floyd saying rude/culturally insensitive things?

People used to dislike Gene Tunney because he read books and that made him a bunnie foofoo in the eyes of the public.
They didn't dislike Gene Tunney because he "read books". That's a very simplistic rationale and not true besides. Do you think he was the only boxer of those times who read books??

They disliked him because he beat the people's favourite Jack Dempsey. The famous photo of him reading a book was just to make a newspaper story, and because he was also courting a girl from a well known Society family at the time, it was used to give people the impression that, all-in-all, he had become "too big for his breeches". Swelled headed in other words.

the fact that i can't write puussies with its proper spelling on a boxing forum goes to show how soft our society has become.

boxers are still part of society........

thus, they are still bound to observe proper conduct, laws and rules,...and other norms accepted in a civilized society.......

selling/hyping up a fight is no license to be racist or to engage on so much mud-slinging and what have you...

to be right in a society is not to be soft....
