Froch plans psychological warfare in buildup to Ward showdown
    by Harry Pratt
    Jul 28th, 2011

Carl Froch says he will attack Andre Ward's confidence before the two 168-pound beltholders battle it out for the Super Six tournament trophy and the vacant RING super middleweight title on Oct. 29.

Carl Froch has warned Andre Ward to be prepared for some serious psychological warfare ahead of their super middleweight unification clash in Atlantic City, October 29.

The WBC beltholder from Nottingham, England, believes rattling opponents in the build up to bouts is an essential ingredient of any fighter’s arsenal and will not hesitate to employ such tactics on Ward, the undefeated WBA titleholder.

Do not call it trash talk, though. Froch insists if you mean what you say there is absolutely nothing wrong with some explosive verbal sparring between impending rivals.

And he plans to launch his attacks on Ward the fighter, not the person, any day now via Twitter.

“It’s only trash talking if you don’t believe it and you are just selling the fight,” said 34-year-old veteran, who beat Glen Johnson on a split decision last month to reach the final of the Super Six tournament.

“Andre Ward has said a few things that have upset me - and now I’m going to get under Ward’s skin and try to get him to come to me and fight. I’m going to start the mental games.

“That won’t be by trashing talking. It will be by telling him what I think of him and what I strongly believe I am going to do to him. That’s going to start very soon, probably on Twitter. So get following, because it’s going to be interesting.“

Froch (28-1, 20 knockouts) expects his toughest date ever in a ring when he goes up against Ward (24-0, 13 KOs). However, he is supremely confident of upsetting the odds.

“My next fight is against someone who has never lost a round since he was 12 years old,” Froch told BBC Radio Nottingham. “He’s an Olympic Gold medalist, he’s unbeaten as a pro and he won against Mikkel Kessler, who got a points win over me.

“He’s coming into the fight as a heavy favorite but I can sit here now and tell you that I’m going to knock him out because he is not a big puncher.

“I am going to put him on the back foot, knock him out and shock the world.”

I hope froche puts ward to sleep. Ward is a nice guy and i like him outside the ring. But his style sucks ballz. The dude is about as exciting to watch as boiling water. He is the exact opposite of what boxing needs. We need to grow the sport and get more eyeballs on the screen. Ward does none of that. Even i have trouble making through one of his fights.

Anybody who calls himself 'Son of God' deserves to get stretched IMO

Pulling hard for Froch but expect a Ward win on points

now froch is sounding like an amateur with this one.......

              c'mon son!

what froch should be worried about is inside fighting, defense, stamina and strength conditioning, and BREAKING WARDS BODY DOWN........

other than that, he's wasting is time with these ****ing mind games he wants to play......

The only thing that can stop Froch beating Ward is the Atlantic city judges.

Nothing wrong with some trash talk be interesting to see how Froch goes about it, because he and Ward don't really have needle between and have been respectful previously.

Okay, but why announce your intentions before doing it?

Fighter A - In a effort to get underneath your skin, I will talk negatively about you.

Fighter B - And I shall oblige you and get angry at your attempts to rattle me.
