What is does it mean to have a good chin?

Is it simply your ability not be dropped?

Your ability not to be stunned?

The ability when your hurt to stay on your feet?

    Or a combination of all?

For example Juan Manuel Marquez is prone to being dropped but is not wobbly legged very often.

Same with Naz he was always dropped but not stunned so much.

People said Khan had a good chin after the maidana fight, because he didn't go down, but he was still stunned.

    What do you think?

Getting knocked down is ok, as long as you aren't hurt (Marquez has an excellent chin). I guess having a good chin is being able to take a good punch without it affecting your neurological health lol. You should not have wobbly legs or have coordination issues.

So khan staying up in the maidana fight didn't prove he has a good chin ya reckon, because freddie said after the fight khan had a good chin, and i just thought 'he was still rocked!' albeit against a big puncher. Although morales wasn't all wobbly like amir in his fight with el chino.

Some people would consider this punch resistance and chin as being dropped. Or are they the same thing?

lots of guys who are dropped a lot but not stopped have either great recuperative power s(like marquez) or poor balance (like naz)

marquez gets hit a lot now because he's all offense in his later years
he throws lots of combinations and he cant use his legs like he used to

chin is the ability to take punches
            period

the level to which you can sustain punishment to the head an evaluation of a fighters "chin"

some guys take punches well (margarita, prime mosley, hopkins, prime toney, pacquiao, rios)
other guys recuperate well (chino maidana, marquez, holyfield)

and some guys don't take punches well at all
jason litzau's lights go out pretty quick these days
amir khan's legs get weak every time he takes a big punch to the head but is in good shape and has stronger legs now and can stay upright and recuperate (given help from joe cortez... don't get it wrong, if smoger was reffing that fight it would have been a chino stoppage)

Its how well you recover from getting knocked down or stunned. ANYONE can be Knocked Down, its how well you recover from it.

also, if you get hit with a clean shot and start looking dazed then you dont have a great chin.

Its hard to judge with Heavyweights about their chins because HW is a division where 1 punch even from a bum can KO someone with a granite chin because of the power that the heavyweights produce.

Its alot easier to judge a midgets chin tho since they punch way softer.
