Music to my ears: Cameron Dunkin on Bradley/wretched WBC: ‘A lawyer told us this is Rocchigiani stuff again.’ @josesulaiman #wbcisdisgusting

When I hear Graciano Rocchigiani invoked as it relates to wretched WBC & legal matters I get a warm fuzzy feeling inside. #wbcisdisgusting

Damn Maybe he will get that Huge payday after all.....

Although he was a notable champion, perhaps Rocchigiani's most significant achievement was his victory in a lawsuit in 1998 against the WBC, in which he was awarded a $31 million judgment for damages over the loss of his light heavyweight title.[1] The court ruling also retroactively declared him champion from when he beat Nunn until his rematch defeat to Michalczewski, Though this ruling is ignored by all record keepers. When the WBC announced its intentions to dissolve, he settled for an undisclosed sum.[2]

The WBC previously filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in 2003 after German light heavyweight Graciano Rocchigiani won a $31 million judgment from a New York jury after he sued the WBC for wrongly stripping him of the title and reinstating Roy Jones Jr. as champ.

I think you have garbled it a little there. Roy Jones was not involved, and the person who was re-instated was Graciano himself. The guy he beat for the title was Nunn, but the whole little mess was only over a max of about a couple of years. $31 mill just shows how ignorant juries are when it comes to assessing damages. It was worth perhaps a million in lost earnings total, ot of which he'd have to pay for his mgr.trainer, sparring ptnrs. camp etc.

Ye WBO was damed right to threaten to go bankrupt. They probably settled for about $500,000 and legal costs.
